For over 30 years I have designed and built software, firmware, and embedded real-time systems — from high-level architecture down to the register level. Cross-platform applications, GPU and parallel computing, bare-metal and RTOS firmware: different worlds, one discipline.

About Me

Hi, I’m Ramin Raeisi. I wrote my first goto 100 on a Commodore 64 at the age of nine, and have been building things ever since — three decades of it across software, firmware, and embedded systems.

Most of my work now begins before a line of code is written. What separates a system that ages well from one that calcifies is rarely the language or the framework — it is where the boundaries are drawn. I design for high cohesion and low coupling: modules that own one idea, interfaces narrow enough to hold in your head, dependencies that point one way. It sounds academic until a change stays local instead of rippling outward, or a port to a new MCU takes a week rather than a rewrite.

The discipline travels — from cross-platform applications on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android to real-time systems on an MCU where every byte is accounted for. I am drawn to the parts nobody sees: RTOS internals, memory constraints, multitasking and IPC, a rendering pipeline pushed to run faster — written in everything from legacy C++98 to modern C++23, alongside C, Rust, Python, .NET, and Assembly. If you are building something in this space, I would be glad to hear about it.

Off the Clock

Long frames, slow build-ups, and the quiet satisfaction of a well-judged safety. The break-building discipline scratches the same itch as designing a system: think several moves ahead, leave yourself a good position.
